Komponisten Harald Weiss wurde mir im Herbst 2013 die Partitur einer kammermusikalischen Fassung seines Requiems zugesandt. Bei der Sichtung des Werkes wuchs mit jeder studierten Seite mehr und mehr die Lust, sich intensiv mit dem Werk auseinanderzusetzen. Der Kompositionsstil war f\u00fcr mich nicht eindeutig: Avantgardistische Moderne war hier auf keinen Fall zu finden. Eher schienen Johannes Brahms, Carl Orff und das minimalistische Element eines John Cage Paten des Requiems zu sein. Ebendiese Verschmelzung der drei Kompositionsstile war das reizvoll Neue an diesem Werk. Das Requiem von Gabriel Faur\u00e9 ist eine der sch\u00f6nsten Vertonungen der Totenmesse \u00fcberhaupt. Das Werk ist ein weltweit anerkanntes und viel gespieltes \u2013 allein vom Komponisten gibt es zwei Fassungen. Weitere Bearbeitungen sind im Laufe der Zeit hinzugekommen. Auch die Singakademie Stuttgart hat sich eine Version zurechtgelegt: Instrumentaler Hauptakteur ist die Orgel. Unterst\u00fctzung kommt von einer Geige, zwei Celli und einem Kontrabass.<\/p><p>R\u00fcckblickend bin ich sehr gl\u00fccklich \u00fcber die Kontaktaufnahme von Harald Weiss mit mir. Seine Vertonung des Textes der Totenmesse wird sich hoffentlich ihren Platz im Konzertleben Deutschlands erobern.<br \/> Diese Aufnahme dient in erster Linie der Verbreitung erstklassiger Musik. Beide Fassungen sind Bearbeitungen ihrer Originale, beide Versionen sind wahrlich keine kleinen Schwestern ihrer Originale. Im Gegenteil: Ihre Farbigkeit steht jenen in nichts nach und sie \u00fcberzeugen durch ihre eigene Strahlkraft. In unterschiedlichen Epochen komponiert, so unterschiedlich die Anlage und Kompositionsweise, so haben sie doch eines gemeinsam: Die tr\u00f6stliche Aussage, dass der Tod die friedvolle Vollendung des Lebens ist.
